American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)
Tale
It follows Morgan, a single mother of three, and how her extraordinary mind helps her solve a crime as she reorganizes evidence during her shift as a cleaning lady at the police department. Despite his very high IQ, excellent memory, and deep knowledge of secrecy, Morgan makes a series of fundamental legal mistakes that anyone who has ever watched a legal TV show would know he should not have allowed. In the first episode, for example, he retrieves a document from a locked safe at the alleged victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court – evidence obtained illegally.
admissible in court
Nor could it be used to obtain other evidence – a violation of the legal doctrine of “fruit of the poisonous tree”. In episode 2, she has to be reminded to wear gloves before handling evidence at the crime scene, and in #3, she removes all documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the prisoner chain and everything she removed is gone as well. HPI Remake (2021).
Okay, the show starts off great and Kaitlin Olson gives a solid performance
The show is very similar to the TBS show Monk, where a borderline Asperger helps the police solve crimes. Again, the show is solid so far, but not as original or fun to watch as Monk, but it’s a fun watch. It really goes off the rails in episode 3 and I hope episode 4 really improves.
A tactic that would have cracked the case
In this episode, she’s overconfident and stands up for herself. He takes evidence from the station, tampers with it, and contaminates it. CONSEQUENCES?
Again, I hope it improves with episode 4
Zero… It’s almost unsettling how boring she is in this episode. He shows almost no evidence of self-awareness or remorse for his actions.
