Four children make a mysterious discovery on their home planet, leading them to become lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law in “The Skeleton Team” and more stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neal’s younger siblings is the same one Chewbacca’s family watches in the infamous Star Wars Christmas special (1978). Featured in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Lineup: Stupid Old Deadly Bear (2022). I’ve seen the first two episodes, and while they’re clearly calling for a “kids in space” show, what’s wrong with that? This is a completely different look at the story that exists in the Star Wars universe. I liked how a suburban town looks in this world, because we’ve never seen one. The town they come from reminded me more of the area from Alien than anything we’ve seen on the show lately. The four main characters are typical but enjoyable, each of them having their own well-defined role in the group, and the actors played them well. The pirate vibe isn’t necessarily what we’ve seen before and adds a bit of creepiness and danger. If this were an 80’s movie it would fit right in. So far I’m enjoying the new storytelling elements in the Star Wars universe, the hints of nostalgia for my childhood movies, and being able to share this Star Wars experience with my kids. Well done!
